Dear sisters, this blog is written to be uplifting during your walk with breast cancer and healing. My intent is to offer true Hope from God’s Word and to guide you through the long days and nights of treatment and beyond. I know every day is not easy. Most days aren’t.
By writing Thriving in God’s Love, I wanted to let you know that God loves you unconditionally. He loves you every minute of every day, and He wants you to take comfort and hope in His never-ending love for you. Even when the days are tough and hard and never-ending.
His love is so great, He created you to thrive in His love even when you are old, even when things aren’t easy:
(Growing in grace) they will still thrive and bear fruit and prosper in old age. They will flourish and be vital and fresh (rich in trust and love and contentment); Psalm 92:14 (AMP)
But when the days are hard, the pain is real, and longevity seems uncertain, how do we get there? How do we get to a place of hope, a place of thriving?
The only way I’ve found is by trusting in His promises. I know this is true; my faith is strong, but here’s where I come clean…
I don’t always feel like I’m thriving. I am not always happy, or “rich in trust and love and contentment.”
I know I am going to Heaven. God promised my final destination in Heaven is secure in Him when I claimed Jesus as my Savior. He offers you the same promise, dear sister.
But sometimes my walk on earth, even 18 years cancer-free, is hard. I have my doubts about what I’m doing, what God is going to do with this book, if cherished members of my family will ever choose Jesus…
Yet as I write I remember truth: God never promised any of us an easy cake-walk here on earth just because we choose to follow Him.
Furthermore, God never promised us we would have only happy thoughts, or it would always be easy to follow Him or do the right thing.
God never promised us a life free of sickness and disease. He never promised us we wouldn’t get breast cancer.
And God never promises us we will live to old-age.
God’s Promises to Us
But He does promise us this:
- When we choose Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we will spend eternity with Him in Heaven.
- There will be no more sorrow, no more pain.
- We will see Him face to face, and live forever in His loving presence.
But what about now? What about our time on earth?
God has very specific and meaningful promises to each of us in His Word because He is our Good Shepherd. He is always with us. Jesus Himself gives us a promise we can cling to. It combines the harsh realities of this fallen world with the promise of eternity with Him:
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16: 33 (NLT)
I will finish the September blogs with God’s promises for us. I never tire of taking comfort in HIs promises that offer me hope during challenging times in my life.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October will be devoted to Breast Cancer Prevention as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I have so much solid research to share on what we can do to prevent a breast cancer reoccurrence because that is the cry of every sister’s heart when she is pronounced “cancer-free.”
If you have any topics or questions you’d like to see addressed in October, please send me a message on my Facebook page by clicking here: His Complete Transformation.
God bless you, my friend.
